RAMADAN MUBARAK!

I can't believe it's Ramadan already, my favorite time of the year. This Ramadan I'm participating in the Human Appeal Superhuman Challenge which involves raising awareness, help out in local communities and fundraising money for people in Palestine, Myanmar and Yemen. This blog is my first step into this 30 day challenge and to complete it I need your help.

I chose to do this because Ramadan is a month of blessings, when our deeds are multiplied and Allah is showering down his mercy. It's also a chance to raise money and help our brothers and sisters going through unimaginable pain around the world. This challenge is a little personal to me because my dad was born and has family in Myanmar, alhamdulilah they're not affected by what is going on to Muslims there, but I can't imagine what they would be going through if they were. There is also a prize trip to Andalucia which would be nice, but I'm really only in it to help out as much as I can.

The Israeli-Palestinian war has been going on for decades, leaving many Palestinians homeless, injured and children orphaned. People from Myanmar have battled sea and starvation after being forced out of their homes by a militant group, they're living in terrible conditions. People from Yemen are in the midst of a civil war, facing famine and disease, millions have already died. We need to do something to help these people because humanity is our responsibility. It is so hard to imagine what they are going through from the comfort of our own homes, but it's a problem every single one of us can contribute to solve.

The Human Appeal Superhuman Challenge Checklist:

Challenge 1 -

- Feed a family in Palestine for 4 weeks by raising £150

- Provide life-saving support for 10 children in Yemen through our child malnutrition and cholera prevention programme by raising £150

- Improve the shelter/living conditions of a displaced family in Myanmar by raising £300

Challenge 2 -

- Take part in the HA media takeover every Friday in Ramadan at 8pm and on the odd nights of Ramadan

- Write a social media post about why you volunteer with Human Appeal or chose to do this challenge (I think this blog counts towards this one)

- Get 3 friends to post your JustGiving link on their social media accounts (I would be so grateful if you would do this to raise awareness)

Challenge 3 -

- Tidy or clean up your local community i.e. street clean up

- Give a meal to a homeless person

- Invite your neighbours and/or friends to have an iftar with you

Challenge 4 -

- Get 3 friends or family members to sign up to be a Human Appeal Volunteer

- Tell us what project is important to you

My goal is to raise £1500, maybe it's a stretch or maybe we'll go beyond that but I will need your help! I would appreciate it if you could donate as much money as you can, even if that's £5, you could ask your friends and family to donate £5, £10, £20 or more. You can donate money through my JustGiving page (I'll provide a link at the bottom of the blog or you can find it on my Instagram) or by calling Human Appeal, but make sure you give my supporter ID number (which will also be at the bottom).

You could share my JustGiving page on your social media, this will raise awareness and help me raise more money. If you do share it, could you please tag me so I know. Another huge help would be to sign up as a volunteer for Human Appeal, volunteers help out at local events and raise money for the charity. You can do this at www.humanappeal.org.uk/getinvolved, please put my name in the "skills/experience" section of the form.

This also involves hosting iftars and events to raise money, so if you're up for it, please let me know. If you have ideas about how we can help our local community then tell me, so we can all get involved and help out.

Thank you for reading this blog, I hope you will donate and help out as much as you can insha'allah. Please share this with your friends and family so together we can change people's lives. I'm going to leave you with a quote from the Quran:

ALLAH TELLS US THAT “IF ANYONE SAVED A LIFE IT WOULD BE AS IF HE SAVED THE LIFE OF THE WHOLE HUMANITY.” QURAN 5:32
