Ramadan Mubarak everyone! I can't believe its Ramadan already! I hope everyone is having a good Ramadan so far!

So this blog post is about a subject matter that I felt was really important to talk about. Which is fasting during exam season. Personally, I have just about recovered from probably THE worst deadline season, so I feel this post is much needed!

For those who don't know what the Month of Ramadan is, it is the holy month of fasting, in which Muslims all around the world fast for 30 days. And before you ask, yes, we don't drink water as well!

Therefore, as exam season is upon us, many Muslim students around the world have to fast whilst taking exams. So here is my 5 TOP TIPS to survive exam season and deadlines whilst fasting!

1) PLAN AHEAD

This is one tip I ignored and I now regret not following myself. But planning ahead is the most important TIP! You need to make sure you plan 4 to 5 weeks in advance about how many words you are going to write or what topics you are going to cover and allocate time in which you would like to finish them. Honestly, you don't want to be up the night before the deadline or exam, cramming words or information in your head! It's scary!

2) KEEP CALM AND COLLECTED!

I'm aware at times of exams, it can be really stressful and anxiety levels can rise. However, be calm! Don't worry! Whatever happens you need to make sure you tried your best and that's all that matters! After you leave that examination room, leave the exam in there and move on, no matter if you feel you have done well or terrible. There is no point in panicking, it will only make you feel worse!

3) EAT AND KEEP HYDRATED WHEN YOU CAN EAT!

The times I have regretted not waking up for Suhoor on a day of exams! Its important that you eat and drink well when you do eat, even if that's Iftar or Suhoor. This way you can stay hydrated and (semi) not hungry for the time you have an exam! The foods you eat are your source of energy!

4) TAKE BREAKS IN YOUR REVISION SCHEDULES

Don't panic and cram information in your brain! It won't help you and don't overdo it! This I feel is a general TIP for revision, however trying to cram on a empty stomach does not work well! So try to take frequent breaks in your revision. This technique really helped me in retaining more of the information and with assignment writing as well. Aim to complete chunks of your work and you will get there!

5) MAKE SURE YOU PRAY AND REMEMBER GOD IN WHATEVER YOU DO

This one is quite personal but I felt it's very necessary. Be sure that you are remembering Allah in everything you do and every dua you make. He will surely guide you and allow you to feel calm before and after any exam! Remember whatever happens for a reason!

I hope you found those useful, as I know exam season is upon us and we need some love to get us through this stressful period! I have learnt so much over the past years by doing exams in Ramadan, so I thought it would help to share some tips with you!

Good luck with your exams everyone!

Thank you for reading!
