Welcome to Girls Gone Wild, first of all, thank you for checking out our blog, it means a lot. We thought we'd write a short first blog to tell you what we're about, why we started and where we plan to go with it.
Aside from usual blog posts like fashion, beauty, lifestyle etc. we wanted to face topics a lot of Muslim/Asian people don't talk about in hopes to challenge views most of us have grown up with. Attitudes around the world have changed in the last few years, but where does religion, culture or our own views fit into them? This blog is two girls trying to figure all that out and hopefully get other's opinions too. We want to talk about taboo subjects, problems we face in day to day life and everything else. This is were the name Girls Gone Wild came from, it's a phrase people often use when girls have gone off the rails, doing something unconventional, pushing the boundaries of being women, in this case we're talking about things people don't want to.
It all started when Anisah asked me (Sameena) about starting a podcast with the same idea, I was totally up for it because it's something which is lacking in our community right now, but of course being two uni girls it's a little hard to keep up with assignments and other commitments so we weren't sure. For those who've known me longer than five years, you'll know I'm no stranger to blogging, I was going to start one this summer and asked Anisah if she wanted to start blogging first and here we are. The podcast idea is still something we want to look into for the future, let us know if it's something you'd like.
For those of you who have no idea who we are, Anisah is an aspiring journalist who is all about uncovering people's stories and getting them heard, maybe offer advice too. This blog is important to her because it's the start of what she'd like to do in the future.
As for me, I have no idea what I'm doing most of the time and have nothing planned for next week never mind for the future, I am doing a degree in English and Creative Writing purely because I enjoy it, I don't know where it'll take me, but that's the fun part.
This was a short first blog but it's the start of a great journey which we hope you will support us with. Please share our blogs, tell us your stories and give us suggestions.
